The Minority in Parliament has declared that the New Patriotic Party (NPP), if elected back into government in 2028, will carry out a comprehensive forensic audit of the process that led to the award of the Damang Mine concession.
This follows rising controversy surrounding the deal, which is reportedly set to be taken over by E&P Company Limited, a firm owned by Ibrahim Mahama, brother of the President.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, March 26, the Ranking Member on the Lands and Natural Resources Committee, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, indicated that the circumstances under which the contract was awarded raise significant concerns and demand detailed scrutiny.
He stressed that the Minority believes the entire process must be rigorously examined to ensure transparency and accountability, a task he said the NPP is committed to undertaking when it assumes office.
“The NPP, upon forming the next government on January 7, 2029, will conduct a thorough forensic review of every stage of this transaction — including pre-bid activities, internal communications within the commission, deliberations of the tender committee, financing arrangements, mobilisation timelines, and all related contracts and correspondence.
“Anyone found to have manipulated the process will be exposed, and those who gained improperly will be held accountable,” he stated.
