  • Perpetrators of the scam face arrest and prosecution under the law.
  • Legitimate automated traffic enforcement system, Traffitech-GH, will launch in coming months.

The Ghana Police Service has issued an urgent warning about a fraudulent electronic traffic violation notice circulating online.

The scam targets citizens with fake notifications claiming they have violated traffic laws and instructing them to make payments for these alleged offenses. The Police clarified that these notices are false, invalid, and not issued by their office.

Authorities have urged anyone spreading these messages to stop immediately. The Service emphasized that such acts are serious offenses under the law, and perpetrators will face arrest and prosecution.

While these viral notices are scams, the Ghana Police Service confirmed it is collaborating with the Ministry of Transport, National Road Safety Authority, and DVLA to launch a legitimate automated enforcement system called Traffitech-GH. This program is expected to roll out in the coming months, following parliamentary amendments to road traffic regulations. The public will be informed through official channels as the system is implemented.
