Micheal Okyere Baafi, Member of Parliament for New Juaben South Constituency, has reaffirmed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) remains “ever ready” to reclaim power in the 2028 elections.
Speaking on the Ghana Se Sen Show on Lawson TV, Hon. Okyere Baafi emphasized that the NPP is uniquely rooted in Ghana’s political tradition, proudly carrying the legacy of the Danquah‑Busia‑Dombo tradition.
“The NPP is the only party with a tradition. We have a name, we have a legacy, and that legacy is unmatched in Ghana’s history,” he said, citing the party’s record during the tenure of former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
Hon. Okyere Baafi highlighted the crucial role of northern political leaders like Jatoe Kaleo and C.K. Tedam, who helped forge strategic alliances (PDAs) that became the ideological and organizational foundation of the modern NPP.
He also reflected on the recent NPP Thanksgiving, held to celebrate the success of the party’s Presidential Primaries.
“The spirit of togetherness we witnessed there must be sustained. Any member who has backslid or harbors bitterness must wake up, forgive, and recommit to the cause,” Hon. Okyere Baafi urged.
Describing the 2026 NPP Presidential Primaries as “acrimonious,” he stressed that unity and mutual understanding among party members are essential if the NPP is to return to power in 2026.
Hon. Okyere Baafi called on all members to embrace reconciliation and collective action; “If the NPP gets united, works with understanding, and lets go of any bitterness, there is no doubt we will come back to power.”
