President John Dramani Mahama has directed the urgent airlifting of injured Ghanaian nationals from Burkina Faso following a deadly terrorist attack in Titao.

The order comes after a jihadist attack on February 14, 2026, which targeted members of the Ghana National Tomatoes Traders and Transporters Association working in the area.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Government of Ghana confirmed that eight Ghanaian citizens have now lost their lives. Seven traders were killed instantly during the assault, while an eighth victim later succumbed to injuries sustained in the attack.

The ministry noted that, acting on medical advice and in consultation with relevant authorities, President Mahama has instructed that all injured Ghanaians in Burkina Faso be airlifted immediately for treatment.

“The Government of Ghana has decided to immediately conduct medical evacuation by air of all Ghanaian victims in Burkina Faso,” the statement said.

The Ghana Air Force has been assigned to carry out the evacuation, with the injured expected to arrive in Ghana later today, Tuesday, to receive further medical care.
