- The Hammers remain in the relegation zone despite an active winter window
West Ham have completed the signing of winger Adama Traore from Fulham in a deal that could be worth up to £2m.
The 30-year-old makes the move across London and is reunited with manager Nuno Espirito Santo, under whom he previously played at Wolves. The agreement includes an initial £1m fee, rising with add-ons, and runs until the end of the season, with an option to extend for a further year.
Traore, who has been capped eight times by Spain, has struggled for regular starts this season, making only two Premier League starts for Fulham. He was also absent from their 2-1 home win over Brighton on Saturday.
“I’m very happy to be here and to help the team as much as I can,” Traore said. “My mentality is always to improve, to be better than yesterday. I love challenges and I believe, step by step, we can achieve our goals.”
His final appearance for Fulham came in their 3-1 FA Cup win over Middlesbrough on 10 January.
A product of Barcelona’s academy, Traore has previously played for Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Wolves before joining Fulham on a free transfer in August 2023.
West Ham have been one of the busiest clubs in the January transfer window, also signing forwards Pablo Felipe from Gil Vicente for £20m and Taty Castellanos from Lazio for £25.2m.
The club are also negotiating the sale of midfielder Lucas Paqueta to Flamengo, having already sold Guido Rodriguez to Valencia and Luis Guilherme to Sporting. Germany forward Niclas Fullkrug has joined AC Milan on loan.
Despite recent wins in their last two league matches, West Ham remain in the relegation zone with 20 points, five points from safety, and 15 games remaining.
