The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has warned the Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboa, against using his political office to interfere in the ongoing Sampa chieftaincy dispute.

Otumfuo issued the warning on Monday, December 15, 2025, during the final Asanteman Council meeting of the year held at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. He stressed that political influence has no place in traditional leadership matters and will not be tolerated.

According to the Asantehene, the Bono Regional Minister, who is also a lawyer, has a personal interest in the Sampa chieftaincy case, a situation he said raises serious concerns.

“I will not allow him to use his political position to meddle in chieftaincy affairs,” Otumfuo Osei Tutu II cautioned.

The Asantehene’s remarks highlight the need to preserve the separation between political authority and traditional governance, particularly in the resolution of chieftaincy disputes in Ghana.
