Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has called on stakeholders to make sustainable investments in Africa’s film industry to generate jobs and drive economic growth.

She made the appeal at the maiden Regal Film Festival and Awards (REFFA) 2025 on December 13, an event celebrating African storytelling and recognising outstanding films and industry professionals.

The ceremony brought together filmmakers, producers, and creatives from across the country.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang encouraged filmmakers, particularly emerging talents, to prioritise professionalism over mere visibility.

She stressed that African stories must be told with purpose to effectively compete on the global stage.

The Vice President commended REFFA for providing a platform that nurtures talent and creates opportunities for African films to access both regional and international markets. She noted that such initiatives are key to promoting African culture globally while showcasing authentic stories.

Concluding her remarks, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang congratulated all award winners and participants, expressing optimism about REFFA’s future as a platform for developing young talent and strengthening African storytelling.
