A tragic incident unfolded in the Kpandai District after a National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign event on Sunday, December 14, leaving one person dead following a bee attack.

Confirming the development to Citi News, the NDC’s Kpandai Constituency Secretary, Mr. Robert, said the incident occurred shortly after the party wrapped up its campaign activities.

The deceased, a chief from one of the communities in the district, was riding a motorbike when he was suddenly attacked by a swarm of bees. In the panic that followed, he reportedly got off the motorbike and attempted to escape but was beaten to death amid the ensuing confusion.

Some residents have linked the incident to spiritual causes, describing it as a curse, though authorities have not commented on such claims.

Police investigations are underway to establish the precise circumstances surrounding the death.

The incident comes at a time of heightened political tension in Kpandai, ahead of a parliamentary election rerun scheduled by the Electoral Commission for Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

The rerun follows a High Court decision that annulled the results of the 2024 parliamentary election due to irregularities in the collation process. The contest is expected to feature the same candidates from the 2024 polls, as both the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) intensify their campaigns in the lead-up to the rerun.`3
