Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has broken his silence following his release from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), describing his December 3 arrest as unnecessary and part of what he calls a reckless and politically dangerous agenda by the OSP.

Kpebu had gone to the OSP to assist in investigations concerning corruption allegations he has leveled against Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng. However, a confrontation with officers at the OSP entrance led to his detention before any questioning could begin.

In an interview with TV3 monitored by Citi News, Kpebu described the arrest as surreal and baffling.

“I didn’t do anything that deserves an arrest, so somehow it was like a dream, like a fairytale,” he said, adding that his spirits remained high despite the ordeal.

He further accused the OSP of pursuing a destructive course, calling the arrest a “suicide mission” orchestrated under the leadership of Kissi Agyebeng.

“He can pretend he has nothing to do with it, but he is the head,” Kpebu stated.

This incident underscores the escalating tension between Kpebu and the OSP. He has repeatedly criticized the office for procedural lapses, including delegating sensitive investigations to junior officers who report directly to the Special Prosecutor. Kpebu insists that only an independent committee can fairly handle the allegations he has raised.

He has also raised concerns over the OSP’s handling of other high-profile cases, including the investigation into former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, alleging that the office failed to properly follow key procedural steps.
