- Oppong Nkrumah urges 2026 budget to prioritise job-creating investments
- He warns that promises alone won’t generate employment without proper funding.
- He cautions that failure to create jobs could lead to youth backlash
Ofoase Ayirebi MP Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has urged the government to focus on investments that directly generate employment as it formulates the 2026 budget.
Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday, November 19, he stressed that the budget’s ability to drive economic growth and create jobs hinges on funding initiatives that genuinely produce employment opportunities.
Oppong Nkrumah warned that announcements and promises alone would not suffice.
“If this budget is serious about growth and jobs, it must channel funds into initiatives that create employment. You can make all the noise you want, but if your revenue underperforms, you won’t have the funds to invest,” he said.
He added a stern caution to policymakers: “If your revenue doesn’t perform and you fail to invest in job-creating projects, the youth will hold you accountable in the end.”
