Two members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Shamsudeen Iddrisu and Boateng Kwadwo, have taken legal action to stop the party’s upcoming Extraordinary National Delegates Conference.
The duo filed a motion for an interlocutory injunction at the Accra High Court on July 14, 2025, through their lawyer, Agyemang Duah of CharisBrit Legal Consult.
Their legal filing seeks to restrain the NPP from holding the scheduled event at the University of Ghana Stadium from July 18 to 20, 2025.
The plaintiffs argue that proceeding with the conference could interfere with the fair resolution of a substantive legal case they have brought against the party.
They contend that the event’s organization violates certain internal procedures of the party and risks prejudicing the outcome of the ongoing litigation.
Filed under Order 25 of C.I. 47, the motion also requests the court to issue any further directives it considers necessary to ensure fairness and justice. As of the time of this report, the NPP has not publicly responded to the injunction application.
The Extraordinary Delegates Conference is a pivotal gathering on the NPP’s calendar, often used to make significant policy decisions.
A delay or cancellation could affect the party’s strategic planning as it gears up for the 2028 general elections.
