Family grateful for the outpouring of support during a difficult time

- Ken Ofori-Atta had successful prostate cancer surgery at Mayo Clinic
- Surgery lasted over four hours; doctors satisfied with the outcome
- Despite legal investigations, Ofori-Atta is recovering and staying strong
Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has successfully undergone prostate cancer surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, his family confirmed.
In a statement released by his wife, Prof. Mrs. Angela Ofori-Atta, on Monday, June 16, she revealed that the robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy was performed on Friday, June 13, lasting more than four hours.
“The medical team is very pleased with the outcome of the surgery and will now begin a postoperative care plan,” she said.
Prof. Ofori-Atta described the period leading up to the operation as especially challenging, pointing out the timing of a public alert issued by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) about her husband.
“Kenneth has always shown great strength, but this was a tough time, especially with the OSP issuing a red alert just before his surgery,” she noted.
Despite these pressures, she emphasized that Mr. Ofori-Atta is coping well and is focused on his recovery.
“Our family is deeply thankful for the overwhelming support and prayers from many individuals and religious leaders,” she added.
Meanwhile, Ken Ofori-Atta remains under investigation by the OSP over allegations of corruption and procurement irregularities during his time in office, with probes spanning contracts in petroleum revenue, electricity, national cathedral projects, ambulance procurement, and tax fund management.
