Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has encouraged Ghanaians to draw inspiration from the positive values of the June 4 uprising, calling it a defining moment in Ghana’s democratic journey.

Speaking at the 46th anniversary commemoration held at Agormanya Lasi Park in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, Mr. Kwetey emphasized the importance of using history as a guide for national development.

He highlighted the uprising as a moment that not only taught tough lessons but also reinforced the need for thoughtful, deliberate action in leadership.

“June 4 should serve as a compass,” he stated. “It teaches us to listen more, speak less, and act with caution—principles that remain deeply relevant today.”

Kwetey called on both NDC members and the general public to look beyond partisan politics and embrace a collective national vision. He insisted that the current political climate demands more than blame games and political rivalry—it calls for unity and a reset of national priorities.

“This is not about pointing fingers at the NPP or letting the NDC off the hook. It’s about holding ourselves to a higher standard,” he said. “Ghana can no longer afford the politics of mediocrity. The time for genuine transformation is now.”

He concluded by urging all Ghanaians, regardless of party affiliation, to use the spirit of June 4 as a foundation for building a just, progressive, and united nation.
