Berekum Chelsea head coach, Samuel Boadu, has been charged with misconduct by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following his team’s FA Cup semi-final defeat to Asante Kotoko at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa.
In a statement issued on Monday, May 13, 2025, the GFA cited Boadu for breaching Article 12(1)(i) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019, and Article 34(6)(d) of the Premier League Regulations, 2019.
The charges stem from his alleged aggressive behavior toward match officials after the final whistle. According to the GFA, Coach Boadu approached the referees “in an aggressive, angry, and fierce manner,” using inappropriate gestures deemed unacceptable under the rules of the game.
The GFA further stated that such conduct undermines the core values of sportsmanship, respect for officials, and the integrity of football. “This behavior brings the game into disrepute and goes against efforts to uphold discipline and professionalism in Ghana football,” the statement read.
Boadu has been given until Thursday, May 15, to respond to the charges. If found guilty, he could face disciplinary action including a fine, a touchline ban, or suspension from all football-related activities.
