Ghanaian rapper and music producer M.anifest, born Kwame Ametepee Tsikata, has paid heartfelt tribute to the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, affirming that his musical essence will endure for generations to come.

M.anifest described Daddy Lumba—real name Charles Kwadwo Fosu—as a singular force in Ghanaian music whose influence transcended time and genre.

“His music will live on,” M.anifest said. “He’s that rare case where the legend, the mystique, and the actual music all come together—and it works. He was a hitmaker, but also a brilliant lyricist. His DNA will not leave us anytime soon.”

Daddy Lumba passed away at The Bank Hospital in Cantonments, Accra, on July 26, 2025, sending shockwaves across the music industry and prompting widespread tributes from fans, fellow musicians, and admirers around the world.

Widely regarded as one of the most transformative figures in Ghanaian music, Daddy Lumba’s career spanned over three decades. Known for his unique voice and deeply emotive songwriting, he released more than 30 albums that produced iconic hits like Aben Wo Ha, Theresa, Yentie Obiaa, and Playboy.

Born on September 29, 1964, Daddy Lumba began his journey in the 1980s as part of the Lumba Brothers duo with Nana Acheampong. Their debut album, Yɛɛyɛ Aka Akwantuo Mu, laid the foundation for what would become a phenomenal solo career. His music earned him countless awards and the loyalty of fans both in Ghana and across the diaspora.

Beyond the charts and accolades, Daddy Lumba’s legacy is deeply woven into the cultural and musical fabric of Ghana. His influence continues to inspire a new generation of artistes, solidifying his place as a true icon of highlife and Ghanaian music at large.
