Encourage Church Members to Pay Taxes as They Do Tithes, NDC’s Asiedu Nketia Urges Pastors
NDC Chairman Urges Pastors to Promote Civic Responsibility Alongside Spiritual Giving
- Asiedu Nketia urges pastors to promote tax payment like tithes.
- Cites Jesus’ teaching on fulfilling civic duties.
- Emphasizes taxes fund national development projects.
Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged pastors to use their influence within church communities to encourage members to meet their civic obligations, particularly the payment of taxes.
He likened this responsibility to the spiritual guidance pastors provide on tithes and offerings.
Speaking at the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Dormaa Ahenkro Presbyterian Hospital, Asiedu Nketia referenced biblical teachings, recalling that Jesus, when asked about paying taxes, responded, “Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to Christ what belongs to Him.”
He explained that pastors should similarly guide their congregations on fulfilling tax obligations, highlighting the role of taxes in national development.
He stressed that taxes are essential for building roads, schools, hospitals, and other infrastructure, and called on all citizens to pay promptly to support Ghana’s progress.
