Fufu Pestle, Blood-Stained Items Found in Immigration Officer’s Murder Probe – CID
CID Uncovers Chilling Evidence in Murder of Immigration Officer Stephen Amoah; Suspect Bright Aweh Charged as Investigation Unfolds.

- GIS officer Stephen Amoah’s burnt body was found days after he went missing
- Suspect Bright Aweh allegedly lured him with cash before the murder.
- Forensic evidence, including blood stains and a fufu pestle, linked Aweh to the crime.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has disclosed chilling developments in the suspected murder of Ghana Immigration Service officer, Stephen King Amoah, whose charred remains were discovered on July 9, 2025.
At a press briefing on August 4, the CID’s Director-General, DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor, detailed a troubling sequence of events that led to the arrest of the main suspect, Bright Aweh, now formally charged with murder and held in police custody.
According to investigators, Mr. Amoah went missing on July 3 after reportedly leaving home to meet Aweh, who had sent him images of large sums of cash, allegedly to settle a debt. When Amoah failed to return and could not be reached, a missing person report was filed the next day.
Aweh was arrested on July 6 after inconsistencies in his story and questions about the origin of the GHC500,000 he claimed to have given Amoah raised red flags. Days later, a charred body was found in a gutter near GBC Satellite, later confirmed by relatives as Amoah’s.
Police searches of Aweh’s residence revealed damning forensic clues: blood stains, hastily cleaned surfaces, freshly sprayed walls, and bloodied items including a fufu pestle and camouflage cloth, some of which were hidden in nearby bushes. His vehicle also contained traces of blood. All items have been submitted for forensic testing, with DNA samples from Amoah’s family aiding the profiling.
The case, initially classified as a kidnapping, has now escalated to murder. Aweh has been arraigned before the Adabraka District Court and is to reappear on August 8.
CID officials say a wider investigation is ongoing to uncover potential accomplices. DCOP Yaako assured the public that the police are committed to ensuring justice for the slain officer.
“This investigation remains ongoing, and every effort is being made to ensure that all the perpetrators are brought to justice,” she affirmed.
