Two human rights organisations, Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG) and the Justice Revived Foundation (JRF), are calling for swift and compassionate justice following a troubling case involving a 13-year-old girl from Madina, Accra.

According to the organisations, the young girl, a pupil at Madina No. 3 School, has alleged that she was harmed by a group of individuals earlier this year. The incident, which began around February 2025, has left her emotionally distressed and facing a difficult pregnancy.

In a statement, HRRG and JRF said the girl identified a 45-year-old mason, Clement Kwame, as the person who first lured her with false promises. It is further alleged that he, along with others, was involved in repeated violations of her safety and well-being.

The statement explained that the child was unable to speak up earlier due to fear and threats. The case is now with the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Madina, where investigations have commenced and some arrests have been made. However, key suspects are yet to be apprehended.

“We are appealing to the authorities to act quickly to arrest all those involved,” the organisations said. “It’s also important to provide the young girl with medical care, emotional support, and protection moving forward.”

HRRG and JRF stressed the importance of treating such cases with sensitivity and urgency, calling on all stakeholders—government, law enforcement, civil society, and the public—to work together to prevent future harm to children.

“Every child deserves to grow up in safety and dignity,” the statement concluded. “Let’s stand together to protect them.”
