Ghanaian actor and musician Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has boldly declared himself “the most dynamic actor in the world”, as he builds anticipation for the premiere of his latest high-budget movie, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

Set to make its maiden debut on August 2, 2025, at the SG Mall in Kumasi, the film has already stirred political and cultural conversations across West Africa.

In an exclusive appearance on the Lawson TV/Radio Ghana Se Sɛn Show with host Kwame Tanko, Lil Win detailed the film’s inspiration, message, and international reach. The visit followed a courtesy call to media mogul King Eben, from whom he sought endorsement for the much-anticipated premiere.

A Continental Statement on Leadership and Betrayal

According to Lil Win, Captain Ibrahim Traoré is more than just entertainment — it is an African story rooted in political courage, betrayal, and the fight against neo-colonialism. Drawing comparisons to iconic African figures like the late Burkinabé President Thomas Sankara, Lil Win lamented how Sankara was “betrayed by his closest friend,” echoing themes that run deep in the film.

“It is time African leaders rise for their citizens to live,” he stated passionately, adding that “the whites don’t want Africa to develop, so they connive with some Black people to eliminate performing leaders.”

The actor maintained that the story focuses heavily on Burkina Faso’s current revolutionary leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, whom he revealed has given his full endorsement for the movie and is even encouraging a Burkina Faso premiere.

“Captain wants me to premiere it in Burkina as well. His ministers are happy, and even the Burkina Faso Ambassador to Ghana has watched it — and he’s happy too,” Lil Win said.

Bold Claims, Big Investment

Lil Win did not shy away from strong proclamations.

“If you don’t believe in the story I’m telling, you can go shoot your own and name it anything you want,” he challenged critics, while asserting that “80% of the movie is about Captain Traoré, 10% is about Ghana, and 10% Africa as a whole.”

With an investment of over $1 million, Lil Win believes the film stands as one of the most ambitious projects in Ghanaian movie history. He also confirmed that he welcomes criticism, seeing it as part of the growth and impact of the project.

In a humorous twist, he joked that he might not return from Burkina Faso after the screening because “people take me for granted here.”

A Hero’s Welcome for Early Supporters

As part of the film’s launch, Lil Win has promised to provide free breakfast for the first 500 people who participate in the morning float leading to the premiere at SG Mall in Kumasi.

The film, he said, aims to spotlight African heroism, resistance to oppression, and the strength of leadership — all through the lens of one of the continent’s most talked-about young presidents.
