The 2025 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) lived up to its billing as the “battle of the giants,” delivering another electrifying showdown among Ghana’s most brilliant young minds.
At the NEC Auditorium of the University of Cape Coast, Mfantsipim School, affectionately known as Botwe, showcased unmatched intellect, resilience, and teamwork to defend their national title and claim a historic fourth championship.
The defending champions secured a commanding 56 points, outclassing St. Augustine’s College (42 points) and Opoku Ware School (29 points) in a contest that tested speed, logic, and composure under pressure.
From the onset, the energy in the hall was electric. Mfantsipim took an early lead with 20 points in the first round, keeping Augusco and OWASS within striking distance at 17 points each.
Augusco briefly snatched the lead in the speed round with 27 points, but the Botwe boys—driven by precision and focus—stormed back in the Problem of the Day, scoring 30 points to reclaim dominance. From there, they never looked back.

This victory marks Mfantsipim’s second consecutive NSMQ win, following their triumph in 2024, and cements their place in quiz history as one of the most formidable schools ever to grace the competition.
