President John Dramani Mahama has nominated two individuals for appointment as Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the Ashanti Region, pending approval from their respective local assemblies.

The nominations were announced in a statement released by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs on Thursday, July 17, 2025. The appointments are in line with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).

The nominees are:

  • Ibrahim Issahaq – Atwima Mponua District Assembly

  • Yakubu Issifu – Asante Mampong Municipal Assembly

According to the statement signed by Minister Ahmed Ibrahim, these nominations are part of the government’s broader effort to deepen local governance and improve administrative efficiency across districts.

The appointments will become official only after receiving the required approval from the respective local assemblies, as mandated by law.
