- Referee reportedly confronted and assaulted following disallowed stoppage-time goal.
- Hearts drop to fifth place on the Ghana Premier League table with 16 points.
The Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Disciplinary Committee has brought misconduct charges against Hearts of Oak and midfielder Hussein Mohammed following incidents in their Week Nine Ghana Premier League match against Asante Kotoko.
Hearts of Oak suffered their first defeat of the season in the match, losing 1–0 to their rivals through Morifing Donzo’s penalty. Controversy arose in stoppage time when Mawuli Wayo’s equaliser was disallowed for offside, prompting heated protests from Hearts players.
According to a statement from the GFA, the club failed to maintain discipline as its players and officials allegedly confronted referee Reginald Collins Amoah “in a disorderly manner” after the final whistle. The statement also noted that Hearts supporters threw “objects onto the field of play,” violating league regulations.
Midfielder Hussein Mohammed was further accused of physically assaulting referee Amoah as the official exited the pitch under police protection.
Both Hearts of Oak and Hussein Mohammed have been given until Tuesday, November 11, to respond to the charges.
The loss leaves Hearts in fifth place on the Ghana Premier League table with 16 points after nine matches.
