Ghana has begun an emergency evacuation process for its citizens living in Qatar following rising security concerns in the region.

In a notice dated March 15, 2026, the Ghana Embassy in Doha announced that the government had approved plans to evacuate Ghanaians who wish to return home. The decision follows an earlier advisory issued on March 6, 2026, regarding the evolving security situation.

According to the embassy, the evacuation exercise will be conducted strictly as a one-way arrangement from Qatar to Ghana.

Ghanaians currently residing in Qatar who are interested in being evacuated have been urged to reconfirm their participation by submitting the biodata page of their passports via email.

The required information must be sent to doha@mfa.gov.gh no later than Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

The embassy explained that the evacuation plan is a precautionary measure in response to heightened security developments across parts of the Middle East, which have prompted several countries to review contingency plans for their citizens abroad.
