- Emphasizes his 26 years of international business experience as a foundation for transforming Ghana
- Highlights home-region advantage and vote strategy as key to NPP’s electoral success in 2028
New Patriotic Party(NPP) presidential candidate hopeful, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, former Education Minister and current MP for Bosomtwe Constituency, has declared that the Ashanti Region will stand by the NPP in the 2028 elections if he becomes the party’s flagbearer.
Speaking in an interview, with Kwame Tanko on the Ghana Se Sen Show, Dr. Adutwum highlighted his extensive experience abroad, where he ran businesses for 26 years and employed foreign staff.
He believes this exposure gives him unique insights into how countries like the United States developed and prospered, and he intends to apply similar strategies to transform Ghana.
“NPP delegates should not think my vision is about ‘I have just come.’ I have been abroad for 26 years, running businesses and employing people. I know what it takes to change a country, and my vision will change Ghana,” he said.
Dr. Adutwum further stressed that Ghanaians will have confidence in his leadership when he presents his manifesto in 2028, if given the opportunity to lead the NPP into the general elections.
According to him, for the NPP to secure victory in 2028, the party must present a candidate who can garner the votes of Ghanaians nationwide.
He underscored the importance of home-region support, noting that historically, regions tend to vote overwhelmingly for candidates from their own areas.
“It is simple mathematics: the region where the votes are many, if you get 10% of those votes, it can cancel out votes from five other regions. Every election has been influenced by the home-region advantage, and I can bring that advantage to the NPP,” Dr. Adutwum explained.
He confidently claimed that he is the candidate who can reproduce the vote strength former President John Kufuor had, arguing that this strategic advantage could be decisive for the party’s success.
