Ablekuma North Violence: Police Arrest STC Manager and Businessman Over Rerun Chaos

The Accra Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects — an STC Station Manager and a businessman — in connection with violent incidents during the July 11 by-election in the Ablekuma North Constituency.

The Accra Regional Police Command has announced the arrest of two individuals in connection with the violence that disrupted the parliamentary re-run in the Ablekuma North Constituency on Friday, July 11, 2025.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 23, and signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, the suspects were identified as 46-year-old Musah Muntari, a Station Manager at STC, and 43-year-old businessman Ali Saeed, popularly known as Mboma.

The duo is currently assisting the police with investigations into incidents of violence and assault that occurred during the by-election, which was conducted to elect a parliamentary representative for the constituency.

The re-run was marred by chaos at several polling stations, raising concerns among the public and sparking calls for accountability.

The police have reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing and prosecuting anyone involved in electoral violence, intimidation, or misconduct.

“We encourage the public to support our efforts by providing credible information,” the statement emphasized, urging citizens to contact the police via emergency numbers 18555 or 191.

The Ghana Police Service further reiterated its dedication to maintaining peace and upholding the integrity of Ghana’s democratic processes.
