Police in Asokwa, Ashanti Region are on a manhunt for individuals responsible for defacing artistic paintings at the Asokwa Interchange, created by Visual Arts students from selected Senior High Schools.

For the past week, students have been showcasing their drawing skills on structures at the interchange as part of the AshantiFest 2026 celebrations, led by the Dr. Frank Amoakohene.

However, unknown persons have vandalized many of the artworks, and the motive behind the attack remains unclear.

The incident has drawn the ire of officials at the Asokwa Municipal Assembly, including Municipal Chief Executive Amo Kamel, who confirmed that security agencies are investigating the matter.

Authorities will rely on CCTV footage from cameras near the site to identify the perpetrators. Mr. Kamel described the act as unfortunate and referred to those responsible as “nation wreckers.”

The Ashanti Regional Minister also condemned the vandalism on his Facebook page, alleging that elements within the opposition were behind the attack.

“They did the same to Kwame Nkrumah. They love their party more than the country! Shame!” he wrote.
