Parliament resumes sitting today as lawmakers reconvene for the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic, following the Christmas recess that ended the First Session in December 2025.

The new session officially begins on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, with a packed legislative agenda already taking shape. Ahead of the reopening, the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business engaged Ministers of State to review progress and align priorities for the session.

A number of bills, ministerial statements on pressing national matters, and parliamentary questions are expected to be presented on the floor of the House in the coming days.

Key among the issues slated for consideration are the fight against illegal mining (galamsey) and the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill—popularly known as the Anti-LGBT Bill—which is expected to spark intense debate among Members of Parliament.

As Parliament returns, public attention will be firmly fixed on how lawmakers navigate these sensitive and consequential national issues.
