The Ghana Armed Forces and Ghana Police Service have launched simultaneous, intelligence-led joint operations across the Ashanti, Volta, and Ahafo regions, targeting individuals involved in recent attacks on anti-galamsey personnel, the two security agencies said in a press statement.

According to the statement, the operations began at dawn on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, in key towns including Dadwene and Anwona in the Ashanti Region, Ehi in the Volta Region, and Hwediem, Kenyase, Guaso, and Marhani in the Ahafo Region.

The swoops are aimed at apprehending persons accused of assaulting members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS), Police officers, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) officials, and journalists during anti-galamsey enforcement activities.

The statement warned that any individual or group attempting to obstruct the operations or interfere with law enforcement would face the full force of the law.

Despite the heightened security presence, authorities assured residents that measures have been put in place to protect well-meaning citizens, encouraging the public to remain calm, go about their normal activities, and avoid panic.

The security services also commended civil society groups, the media, and individuals for their strong condemnation of attacks on law enforcement personnel, emphasizing the need for continued public cooperation to ensure the success of the anti-galamsey drive.
