Stop Wasting Money on Repairs, Get a New Jet – Peter Toobu Advises Government
Wa West MP Peter Toobu calls for a modern presidential aircraft to replace Ghana’s ageing Falcon 900, citing safety, cost, and operational efficiency.

- Peter Toobu says a new presidential jet is vital for safety and cost-effectiveness.
- The current Falcon 900 jet has been undergoing lengthy maintenance in France since March 2025
- He urges government to make a non-political, pragmatic decision on the aircraft’s replacement
Wa West Member of Parliament, Peter Lanchene Toobu, has urged the government to procure a new presidential jet, arguing that it would be a more secure and cost-effective investment for Ghana’s long-term benefit.
The call follows continued maintenance delays and high costs associated with the country’s current Falcon 900 Executive Jet, which has been under repair in France since March 2025.
According to Deputy Defence Minister Ernest Brogya Genfi, the aircraft is undergoing final airworthiness tests at Dassault Falcon Service in Le Bourget after its mandatory 24-month inspection.
In a Facebook post on Friday, November 7, 2025, Mr. Toobu — a former police officer and security analyst — said the frequent breakdowns and repair expenses highlight the need for a modern replacement that ensures reliability and safety.
“Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the dollar respects you, so buying a new presidential jet should be on the front burner. Blend safety and security with economics,” he wrote.
He stressed that the decision should transcend partisan politics, focusing instead on national safety, efficiency, and prudent resource use.
