Former Kpandai MP, Matthew Nyindam, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of orchestrating the upcoming rerun of the constituency’s parliamentary election, insisting that the 2024 vote was conducted fairly.
In an interview on Thursday, December 11, Nyindam described the High Court ruling that triggered the rerun as unjustified. “I can tell you without any fear of contradiction that nothing went wrong with the election. We have appealed to the Court of Appeal, but they are not allowing me to contest the decision,” he said.
He expressed frustration over the parliamentary seat being declared vacant while related cases are still pending at the Supreme Court, set for December 16 and 18. Nyindam suggested that the Electoral Commission’s swift scheduling of the rerun for December 30 appeared to be part of a deliberate plan by the NDC.
Despite the controversy, Nyindam remains confident in his support base and affirmed his intention to contest the rerun. “I am not worried. The people of Kpandai who voted for me in 2024 believe I can represent them,” he said.
The Electoral Commission confirmed the rerun date following the Tamale High Court’s November 24, 2025 ruling and formal notification from the Clerk of Parliament on December 8 that the Kpandai parliamentary seat is officially vacant.
