- Minority Chief Whip alleges NDC members are sending death threats to opposition officials.
- Tensions arose in Bonkrom during overlapping events over cocoa price cuts.
- Annoh-Dompreh urges farmers to voice frustrations and hold the government accountable.
The Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has alleged that members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been issuing death threats to opposition officials and attempting to disrupt the Minority Caucus’s outreach to cocoa farmers in the Ashanti Region.
The allegations come after a tense confrontation in Bonkrom, Ahafo Ano North Constituency, where the Minority’s engagements coincided with a meeting by local NDC supporters regarding a disputed cut in cocoa producer prices.
Speaking on Day 3 of the tour at Manso Adubia, Annoh-Dompreh said the threats had gone beyond standard political rivalry.
“They have started sending us messages. They say if we don’t stop what we are doing, they will kill us… But we will not stop today or tomorrow,” he stated.
He encouraged cocoa farmers to express their dissatisfaction with the government, urging them:
“When the NDC come to you, hoot at them. Tell them to go and tell Mahama that he should use the moneys he used to buy planes to pay cocoa farmers.”
