IGP Decorates Police Officer Who Risked His Life to Save Others During Aboso Fire

Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno has decorated Inspector Hance Atubra of the Tarkwa Divisional Headquarters with his new rank of Chief Inspector in recognition of his bravery during the Aboso fire outbreak.
Inspector Atubra was invited to the National Police Headquarters in Accra on Monday, August 31, 2026, where the IGP formally decorated him following his promotion.
The promotion was in recognition of the officer’s courage and exceptional efforts to save lives and protect property during a fire outbreak at Aboso in the Western Region on August 26.
The IGP commended Inspector Atubra for his quick response, bravery and dedication to duty during the incident.
Mr Yohuno said the officer’s actions reflected the values of professionalism, courage and service expected of personnel of the Ghana Police Service.
Inspector Atubra earned recognition after putting his own life at risk to assist others and prevent further loss of property during the fire.
The Police Administration said the promotion demonstrates its commitment to rewarding officers who display exceptional bravery and dedication in the line of duty.
