Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made a strong case for his candidacy as the next National Chairman of the party, arguing that his experience and grassroots connection make him the ideal choice to lead the party into the 2028 elections.

Speaking to constituency organizers in the region on Tuesday, Wontumi emphasized the need for a national chairman who understands the party’s core values, aspirations, and is hungry to lead the charge in reclaiming political power in the upcoming elections.

“I stand before you today to assure the nation, through you, that I am ready to be a working national chairman when given the mandate,” Wontumi declared. “This election is not for just anyone, but for those who are tried, tested, and grounded in the grassroots. Someone who is popular, dedicated, and ready to work tirelessly for victory.”

Wontumi, who is seeking to lead the NPP into the 2028 elections, continued to stress that the party’s current challenges require a leader who is hands-on and deeply connected with its members. “What we need now is hope. I am built for the battle ahead,” he said, urging the organizers to support his candidacy.

With a wealth of experience, Wontumi reflected on his long service to the party, from serving as a two-term Constituency Chairman to an unprecedented three-time Ashanti Regional Chairman. He assured the organizers that his experience had prepared him for the task of national leadership and that he would not compromise on any matter that could diminish the party’s appeal to voters.

“As national chairman, my focus will be on the constituencies,” he explained. “The General Secretary will handle party operations at the headquarters, but my work will be directly with the people to ensure we bring in every vote needed for the 2028 election.”

Wontumi also addressed concerns about his qualifications, emphasizing that his competence, not academic credentials, should be the basis for judging his suitability for the role. “Don’t judge me based on my certificate but on my competency and what I can do for the growth of this party,” he added.

The response from the constituency organizers was overwhelmingly positive. They expressed strong support for Wontumi, praising his understanding of the grassroots and his long-standing dedication to the party. For many, Bernard Antwi Boasiako represents the leadership they believe is needed to carry the NPP to victory in 2028.
