Ghana Armed Forces Deploy Troops to Flood-Hit Accra Communities Under ‘Operation Boafo’

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has deployed military personnel to several flood-affected communities in Accra as part of ongoing rescue and relief efforts following heavy rainfall that submerged parts of the capital.
The intervention, known as Operation Boafo, is an emergency response initiative aimed at assisting residents trapped by floodwaters and reducing risks to lives and property.
The Commanding Officer of the 48 Engineer Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Frank Osei Amponsah, said troops have been stationed at key flood-prone areas, including Klagon, Tse Addo, Dzowulu, and surrounding communities.
He explained that the operation was activated to provide swift assistance to affected residents and support ongoing rescue efforts in the worst-hit locations.
According to Lt Col Amponsah, military personnel have already rescued several individuals who were stranded in their homes after requesting help.
