Fuel Prices to Rise Again from September 1; Petrol Could Hit GH¢16.21 – COPEC
COPEC projects a 5% rise in petrol prices, with diesel and LPG also expected to increase from September 1.

Fuel prices are expected to increase marginally from Tuesday, September 1, 2026, with petrol projected to rise to GH¢16.21 per litre, according to the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers Ghana (COPEC).
The anticipated adjustment is expected to affect petrol, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), potentially increasing transportation and household costs.
COPEC attributed the projected increases mainly to movements in international petroleum product prices, despite a recent appreciation of the Ghana cedi against the US dollar.
According to COPEC’s analysis, global crude oil prices declined slightly from $90.41 to $89.30 per barrel during the current pricing window.
The cedi also strengthened against the dollar, with the average interbank rate improving from GH¢11.800 to GH¢11.5166 per US dollar, representing an appreciation of about 2.39%.
Despite the stronger cedi and lower crude oil prices, COPEC said changes in the Free-On-Board (FOB) prices of refined petroleum products are expected to push pump prices higher.
Petrol is projected to increase from the current mean pump price of GH¢15.43 to about GH¢16.21 per litre, representing an estimated 5% increase.
Diesel is also expected to rise from GH¢17.17 to approximately GH¢17.61 per litre, an estimated 2.58% increase.
Meanwhile, LPG is projected to record a marginal increase to about GH¢14.19 per kilogramme.
The projected increases mean motorists and LPG consumers could face higher costs from the beginning of September, although actual pump prices may vary depending on the rates set by individual oil marketing companies.
