Dortmund Agree Season-Long Loan Deal for Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri

Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri is set to join Borussia Dortmund on loan after the German club suffered a major injury setback.

Story Highlights
  • Dortmund have agreed a season-long loan deal for 19-year-old Ethan Nwaneri.
  • Nwaneri is expected to travel to Germany for a medical and finalise the move before the transfer deadline.
  • Arsenal remain committed to Nwaneri and do not want to sell the highly rated academy graduate.

Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement with Arsenal to sign teenage forward Ethan Nwaneri on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old is expected to move to Germany after Dortmund suffered a major setback with new signing Giannis Konstantelias, who sustained a serious knee injury during Saturday’s 2-0 Bundesliga victory over Hamburg.

Nwaneri, who Dortmund also attempted to sign last summer, is now expected to travel to Germany for a medical before completing the move ahead of the Bundesliga transfer deadline at 19:00 BST.

Arsenal have been open to loaning out the highly rated academy graduate this summer as they continue to view him as part of their long-term plans. The Gunners have no intention of selling the youngster despite significant interest in his services.

Nwaneri spent the second half of last season on loan at Marseille and has attracted attention from several clubs in the Premier League and across Europe during the current transfer window.

The move to Dortmund will provide the England youth international with another opportunity to gain valuable first-team experience while continuing his development away from Arsenal.
