Lawyers Work in the Courtroom, Not at Press Conferences – Ken Kuranchie Slams A-G Over Kwabena Boahene’s Alleged $7M Cybersecurity Scandal

Press conferences won’t recover lost funds – Ken Kuranchie calls out Attorney General over media approach to legal matters.

Lawyer Kenneth Agyei Kuranchie, Managing Editor of the Daily Searchlight newspaper, has criticized Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine for publicly announcing the arrest of former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu Boahene, over an alleged misappropriation of $7 million meant for a cyber defense system.

Speaking on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show on Lawson TV/Radio with Kwame Tanko, Ken Kuranchie condemned the Attorney General’s decision to hold a press conference on the matter, arguing that legal battles are fought in the courtroom, not in the media.

“If the goal is to recover the money, the Attorney General should go to court, not hold press conferences. The courtroom is where lawyers work—not the media,” he fumed.

He further criticized Dr. Ayine’s remarks regarding his intent to keep Kwabena Adu Boahene on remand, describing them as unnecessary and legally inappropriate.

“A lawyer, especially the Attorney General, should not be making such statements. The legal process must be followed, not dictated in the media,” he added.

Ken Kuranchie also took issue with the GHS 260 million bail condition imposed on Adu Boahene, calling it excessive and unfair. He questioned whether the state itself could afford such an amount if it were in a similar position.

“If it were the state or the Attorney General required to meet such a bail condition, would they be able to pay? Dr. Ayine must be fair to his fellow man,” he argued.
