COKA Woos Muslim Community, Urges Support for Bawumia and NPP in 2028

In a strategic bid to consolidate religious and community support ahead of the 2028 general elections, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA has appealed to the Muslim community to vote en bloc for the party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Addressing congregants during the Jummah Friday prayers at the Kukuraba Mosque in Aboabo, Kumasi, Chairman Odeneho underscored that electing Dr. Bawumia would reflect strong solidarity with a fellow Muslim whose leadership credentials and vision can transform the nation’s socio-economic fortunes.
Accompanied by a delegation of Ashanti Regional NPP executives, COKA presented Dr. Bawumia as a proven, highly competent leader capable of delivering sustainable progress for all Ghanaians.
“In all sincerity, this election presents the best opportunity to elect your competent son as President in 2028,” Chairman Appiah stated.
He stressed, “Sharing the same Islamic faith with him makes it even more fitting for the Muslim community to rally behind his candidacy and make this historic vision a reality for Ghana.”
Commitment:
Highlighting the party’s historical bond with Zongo communities, COKA pointed out that the NPP has consistently prioritized the welfare and inclusion of Muslim citizens.
He cited the institutionalization and mainstreaming of the Nasara Wing within the party structure as concrete evidence of the NPP’s appreciation for the vital contributions of Zongo residents to national development.
He reminded the gathering that the NPP was established on a broad national foundation, drawing strength and leadership from across all regions and ethnic demographics in Ghana.
“In the NPP, we recognize and value the intellectual strength, skills, and dedication of all Ghanaians. The Zongo community has played, and continues to play, an indispensable role in strengthening our party,” COKA added.
He noted that, “I appeal to you to extend that same robust support in 2028 by voting for the NPP to govern and guide our nation back onto the path of economic prosperity.”
Islamic Prayers:
Responding to the delegation’s visit, the Chief Imam of the Kukuraba Mosque offered prayers for peace, wisdom, and internal cohesion within the NPP.
The Islamic cleric urged the regional leadership and party members to embody values and attitudes that present the NPP as the most viable, credible choice for the electorate in 2028.
He concluded with prayers for divine guidance, grace, and strength for Dr. Bawumia as he leads the party, while wishing the regional executive committee success in managing party affairs to maintain its appeal to voters nationwide.
