Ashaley Botwe Station Masters Arrested Over Alleged GH¢91,810 Murder Plot

Two lorry station masters at Ashaley Botwe have been arrested by the Madina Divisional Police Command over an alleged plot to kill a woman following a dispute over a debt of GH¢91,810.

The suspects have been identified as 44-year-old Abubakari Ateni, the current station master, and 45-year-old Eric Tetteh, a former station master.

According to the Madina Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Dr Aba Afari, the alleged murder plot followed a disagreement between the woman and Abubakari over the outstanding debt.

Police allege that Abubakari, who also worked as the woman’s errands driver, was advised by Eric to eliminate her to avoid further pressure and embarrassment over the money owed.

Investigators say the two initially planned for Abubakari to strangle the woman. However, after allegedly concluding that the method would be difficult, they reportedly sought the services of another person to carry out the killing.

Police allege that the suspects paid GH¢2,000 upfront to the individual, with an additional GH¢3,000 reportedly promised upon completion of the assignment.

The alleged plan was for the hired assailant to shoot the woman while Abubakari was driving her home, with the incident then staged to appear as a robbery.

Police Foil Alleged Plot

The alleged plan took an unexpected turn when the person approached to carry out the killing turned out to be a community volunteer who assists the Madina Police in crime-fighting activities.

Police subsequently arranged an operation and arrested the suspects on Thursday, September 2, when they were allegedly preparing to execute the plan.

Chief Superintendent Dr Aba Afari assured residents of Madina of the Police Command’s continued commitment to protecting lives and property.

She also commended the officers involved in the investigation for uncovering and foiling the alleged murder plot.

The two suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
