The legal team of former New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman, Freddie Blay, is set to challenge his remand in police custody following a ruling by the Akropong Circuit Court over a land dispute at Kitase.

His lawyers say they will file an appeal on Tuesday, March 17, at the Koforidua High Court, seeking to overturn the remand order and secure his release as legal proceedings continue.

Freddie Blay was remanded on Monday, March 16, after appearing before the Akropong Circuit Court in connection with a disputed parcel of land in Kitase in the Eastern Region.

The case reportedly stems from a complaint by an individual claiming ownership of the land, who alleged unauthorized activity on the property.

Police subsequently invited Mr. Blay to assist with investigations, but the situation escalated, leading to his arrest and court appearance.

After considering initial details of the case, the court ordered his remand to allow for further investigations.

His lawyer, Gregory Asiedu, described the decision as unfortunate, insisting that the remand was unwarranted under the circumstances.

He expressed confidence that the High Court will review the ruling and grant relief, including bail.

“We are filing an appeal at the High Court in Koforidua to seek a review of the remand order and request bail for our client,” Asiedu stated.
