Hajia Amina Adam, widow of the late Ayawaso East Member of Parliament, Mahama Naser Toure, has formally requested to be vetted virtually ahead of the February 7 National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary.

The request was confirmed on Tuesday, January 27, by the Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the NDC, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie.

Hajia Amina Adam is currently observing ‘Iddah’, a four-month period of widowhood seclusion in line with Islamic tradition, prompting her appeal for a virtual vetting process.

Speaking to journalists during the filing of nominations by parliamentary aspirants, Mr. Tetteh Chaie said the party has not yet taken a decision on the request.

Hajia Amina Adam filed her nomination to contest the NDC parliamentary slot in the Ayawaso East constituency and will compete against four other aspirants for the party’s ticket, including Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed.
