Asante Kotoko have parted ways with head coach Eric Tinkler just three months after his appointment.
The South African coach has been released from his contract after the club’s Board of Directors accepted his request to leave with immediate effect for personal reasons.
Tinkler, 54, took charge of the Porcupine Warriors in July following the club’s eighth-place finish in the previous Ghana Premier League season.
His departure comes after just four league matches, in which Kotoko recorded one win, two draws and one defeat.
The coach’s final game was a 2-0 defeat to Aduana FC on Sunday, September 27, which marked Kotoko’s first league loss under his leadership and left the club ninth on the league table.
In a statement, the club said discussions were held in an effort to continue the partnership, but both parties ultimately respected Tinkler’s decision.
Kotoko thanked the coach for his professionalism during his brief spell and confirmed that the technical team will continue under Director of Football Stanley Purl Menzo.
