John Dramani Mahama has announced that African passport holders travelling to Ghana for business or tourism will no longer be required to pay visa fees under the country’s newly introduced electronic visa system.

The President made the announcement during the official launch of Ghana’s e-Visa platform, describing the initiative as a major step toward deepening African integration and encouraging the free movement of people across the continent.

Under the new policy, all African travellers seeking entry into Ghana for tourism or business purposes will apply for visas exclusively through the online platform at no cost.

President Mahama explained that the new e-Visa arrangement replaces the previous visa-on-arrival policy for African visitors, which has now been discontinued in favour of a more efficient and secure digital process.

He, however, clarified that nationals from countries that already enjoy visa waiver agreements with Ghana will continue to enter the country without visas and will not be required to apply through the online system.
