Accra High Court adjourns hearing on injunction against Daddy Lumba’s March memorial event

- The Accra High Court has postponed the injunction suit against Daddy Lumba’s memorial event to April 23, 2026.
- The court needs more time to consider customs and applicable law related to the case
- The “Celebration of the Life of Daddy Lumba” is scheduled for March 28–29, 2026, and will be attended by family members
The Accra High Court, presided over by Justice Halimah El-Alawa Abdul Baasit, has adjourned a case seeking to block the planned celebration of life for the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba to April 23, 2026.
The injunction was filed by Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, also known as Abusuapanyin Tupac, who wants the event stopped.
Following Wednesday’s proceedings, counsel for the respondents, Stephen Nsia Opoku, told reporters that the adjournment allows the court additional time to consider relevant customs and the applicable law.
The court will resume hearings on April 23, 2026, to assess the merits of the application. Lawyer Opoku added that if the suit is deemed without merit, the respondents may be awarded appropriate compensation.
The “Celebration of the Life of Daddy Lumba” is scheduled for March 28–29, 2026, in Accra and is expected to draw members of the late musician’s immediate family, who reportedly were dissatisfied with the December 2025 funeral overseen by Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu. Attendees include his sister Ernestina Fosuh, his first wife Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, and other members of the “Team Legal Wives” faction.
