- 3rd edition of Perfect Series BSAC launched at Kumasi Anglican SHS.
- Ultimate prize increased to GH₵25,000; contest spans Basic 3 to 6.
- Pastor Sarpong urges government support and partnerships to expand the initiative.
The audition and grand opening of the 3rd edition of the Perfect Series Basic School Assessment Contest (BSAC) was held today, March 5, 2026, at Kumasi Anglican Senior High School, drawing enthusiastic participation from basic schools across the Northern Sector.

The auditions mark the beginning of a highly anticipated academic contest aimed at identifying and rewarding brilliant learners from Basic 3 to Basic 6. For the Northern Sector, the quarter-finals are slated for March 19, semi-finals on March 26, and the finals on April 1.
The Southern Sector auditions will take place on March 13, with quarter-finals on May 8, semi-finals on May 15, and finals on May 22.
In an interview, Pastor Philip Sarpong, the CEO of Perfect Media Production and the brain behind the contest, explained the reasoning behind the centralized audition format.

“Every year, we visited schools individually for auditions, but this year we decided to centralize the process. Some schools with large numbers of learners couldn’t make it today, but I’m hopeful they will understand in future editions,” he said.
The ultimate prize for this year is GH₵25,000, up from GH₵20,000 in the 2025 edition, alongside other incentives. Schools with at least three learners scoring above 50% will qualify for the next stage of the contest. Pastor Sarpong also hinted that scholarships and other rewards could be added in future editions.

Highlighting challenges in education, Pastor Sarpong noted that mathematics remains the major difficulty for learners, urging teachers to adapt their teaching methods and pedagogy to make learning more effective.
“If a school doesn’t believe in its learners or the materials they use, they often find excuses to opt out. We need schools to invest in their learners fully,” he stressed.

Despite facing sabotage and numerous challenges, Pastor Sarpong remains undeterred:
“I’m not discouraged. I urge the government for support because this contest is vital for developing our kids and nation-building. My door is open for partnerships from anyone or any institution, not just government,” he added.

Mr. Martin Opoku, the lead examiner for the contest, expressed optimism about the impact of the program:
“We hope the contest will unleash learners who are brilliant but quiet in class, giving them a platform to shine,” he said.
The Perfect Series BSAC continues to gain traction as a flagship academic competition, inspiring learners, teachers, and schools nationwide to elevate their standards and prepare for the future.
