Holy Family Hospital has received a significant boost to its blood bank following a joint blood donation exercise by MTN Ghana and Buoyem Senior High School (SHS).
The initiative, aimed at supporting healthcare delivery and saving lives, brought together staff of MTN Ghana and students of Buoyem SHS in a coordinated effort to replenish the hospital’s blood reserves.
Head of Blood Bank at the Holy Family Hospital, Alhaji Gariba Mariwan Rauf expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, noting that blood shortages remain a major challenge for many health facilities across the country. According to him, the donation will go a long way in supporting emergency cases, maternity care, accident victims and patients undergoing surgery.

Officials of MTN Ghana described the exercise as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, emphasizing its commitment to supporting community health and wellbeing. They encouraged more corporate institutions and individuals to regularly participate in voluntary blood donation.
Leadership of Buoyem SHS also highlighted the importance of instilling a culture of volunteerism and social responsibility among students. School authorities noted that the exercise not only supports the hospital but also educates students on the value of giving back to society.

Medical staff supervised the donation process to ensure safety and adherence to health protocols. Donors were screened before the exercise, and participants were educated on the importance of regular blood donation.
The collaboration between MTN Ghana and Buoyem SHS has been widely commended as a model partnership that demonstrates how corporate bodies and educational institutions can work together to strengthen healthcare delivery.
With the renewed supply of blood units, Holy Family Hospital is better positioned to respond to emergencies and provide critical care to patients in need.
