The Volta North Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals for allegedly trafficking substances suspected to be narcotic drugs in the Volta Region.

The suspects, Etornam Vumadzi, a driver, and Emmanuel Komlagah, were apprehended on Friday, January 30, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation.

They were intercepted while transporting the suspected drugs from Godenu towards Togo in a Toyota minibus (registration number GT-6592-19).

A search of the vehicle, according to a statement issued on Saturday, January 31 by Inspector Felix Kwao, Volta North Regional Public Relations Officer, revealed 18 sacks, each containing 36 yellow oval parcels, totaling 648 parcels of substances suspected to be narcotics.

Investigations further revealed that a third party, identified only as Joseph, attempted to bribe the police GH¢150,000 to compromise the operation.

The suspects themselves also allegedly offered GH¢32,000. All bribe attempts were firmly rejected by officers.

The suspects remain in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations, and are expected to be arraigned in court to face the full rigours of the law.
