President John Dramani Mahama has affirmed that his administration has laid a strong and sustainable foundation for Ghana’s long-term development, following a year of challenging but necessary decisions and reforms.
Speaking at a Non-Denominational Thanksgiving Service at the forecourt of Jubilee House on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, President Mahama reflected on his first year in office, describing it as a period marked by tough choices aimed at stabilizing the nation.
“As we look back on the past year, we do so honestly. We have taken difficult decisions and implemented necessary reforms. We have laid foundations that may not be immediately visible, but are sustainable for the long-term progress of our country,” he stated.
The President highlighted that his government’s efforts over the past year focused on restoring economic stability, implementing institutional reforms, strengthening social protection, and rebuilding confidence both locally and internationally.
“The past year has been about prioritizing economic stabilization, institutional reforms, social protection, and restoring confidence, within our country and in the international community,” Mahama added.
He noted that the thanksgiving service offered an opportunity for reflection on the progress achieved and a moment to express gratitude for the resilience of Ghanaians as the nation continues its path toward sustained growth and development.
