MTN Ghana brought smiles and festive joy to mothers and newborns on Christmas Day as it presented baby hampers to 70 babies born at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

Across the country, the yuletide season delivered double blessings to 700 mothers who welcomed their babies on Christmas Day, as MTN Ghana staff and management paid surprise visits to selected hospitals to distribute the hampers.

At KATH, mothers received hampers filled with essential baby items, including diapers, detergents, toys, and other personal care products, easing the burden on new parents during the festive season.

The remaining baby hampers were also donated to the Kumasi Children’s Hospital at Pampaso as part of the outreach.

Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Obed Adu-Amankwaah, Area Sales Manager for the Ashanti and BABE Regions, noted that Christmas goes beyond celebration.

“Christmas is not only about merry-making; it is also a time to give and put smiles on the faces of others. Jesus Christ, whose birth we celebrate, gave His life for the world, and MTN Ghana is simply replicating that spirit of giving,” he said.

Mr. Adu-Amankwaah explained that the initiative has been running for the past 14 years, adding that this year MTN Ghana is donating 700 hampers nationwide, with 310 going to Northern Ghana and 70 presented at KATH.

According to him, the company’s success is deeply rooted in society, making the gesture a way of giving back and surprising mothers during a special moment in their lives.

On her part, Mrs. Dorcas Asamoah Nyamekye, Nurse Manager for Operations and Gynaecology at KATH, disclosed that the hospital recorded 13 deliveries on Christmas Day. While expressing gratitude to MTN Ghana, she appealed for sustained support.

“We appreciate MTN Ghana, but we hope this support can go beyond Christmas. Doing this every three months will greatly help mothers and babies,” she stated.

She further urged other corporate institutions to emulate MTN Ghana’s example, revealing that some mothers are unable to settle their medical bills and are forced to stay at the hospital for weeks after delivery.

Several beneficiary mothers expressed heartfelt appreciation to MTN Ghana, describing their Christmas Day deliveries as extra special and meaningful, coinciding with the birth of Jesus Christ.
