President Mahama Reshuffles Cabinet, Nominates Zanetor Rawlings and Mahama Ayariga
President reassigns Kenneth Gilbert Adjei and Ahmed Ibrahim as part of efforts to strengthen government performance.

President John Dramani Mahama has announced a ministerial reshuffle, nominating Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings and Mahama Ayariga for key cabinet positions as part of efforts to strengthen his administration.
Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, has been nominated as Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, while Bawku Central MP Mahama Ayariga has been nominated to serve as Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
The nominations have been submitted to Parliament through the Speaker for the constitutionally required approval process.
In addition to the new nominations, President Mahama has reassigned two serving ministers to different portfolios.
Kenneth Gilbert Adjei has been moved to the Ministry of Defence, while Ahmed Ibrahim, Member of Parliament, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
The changes were announced in a statement issued on Friday, August 7, 2026, and signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Presidential Spokesperson and Minister for Government Communications.
According to the Presidency, the reshuffle forms part of President Mahama’s ongoing efforts to realign his government, improve efficiency, and enhance the delivery of public services.
If approved by Parliament, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings will oversee policies relating to environmental protection, scientific research, technological advancement, and innovation, while Mahama Ayariga will be responsible for local governance, chieftaincy affairs, and religious affairs.
The latest changes come as the President continues to review the performance of his administration and reposition key ministries to accelerate the implementation of government policies.
